Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway has taken a $4.3 billion position in Alphabet Inc., marking a striking departure from the conglomerate's traditional avoidance of high-growth tech stocks. The investment, revealed in a Friday filing, immediately boosted Alphabet shares by 3% as markets digested the significance of Buffett's endorsement.

The MOVE carries particular weight given Berkshire's historical tech skepticism and Buffett's impending leadership transition. At 95, the legendary investor is preparing to hand CEO responsibilities to Greg Abel by year-end, making this Alphabet position one of his final major portfolio decisions.

Notably, the investment completes a two-decade circle between Buffett and Google's founders. Larry Page and Sergey Brin explicitly credited Buffett's writings in Berkshire's annual reports as inspiration for their 2004 "Owner's Manual for Google's Shareholders." The manual outlined Google's unconventional corporate structure and long-term philosophy.
